Things to Consider When Purchasing an Accurate Pressure Gauge

Keeping your car tires properly inflated is crucial for your safety. Under deflated tires increase the forward drag and lateral steering effects on a vehicle. They can also build up excess heat as you drive and cause tire failure. For your safety and that of other road users, it is important to use an accurate pressure gauge when checking the pressure of your vehicle. Here are some pointers on important things to look out for when purchasing a pressure gauge.

PSI range

Tire pressure is usually measured in Pounds per Square Inch (PSI). When purchasing a pressure gauge, you should get one which runs within the pressure range of your car tires. For example, if you run 20psi on your tires, you should get a gauge with a pressure range of up to at least 40psi as most gauges usually work best in the middle of their range.

Analog vs. digital

Digital pressure gauges are easier to read and give more refined results as compared to analog ones. However, they come with a higher price tag. Some digital pressure gauges may be a little complex in their operation. On the other hand, analog gauges are simple to use, cheaper, and you can get one with finer PSI increments. If you are looking for something trendy and sophisticated and are ready to pay for it, you can go for a digital one.

Face size

Pressure gauges on the market today can have small or bigger faces. The size of the face comes down to your preference. For example, if you have trouble reading smaller digits, it would be appropriate to get one with a larger face. Also, you may be unable to read the pressure value accurately on a small analog pressure gauge. That said, bigger gauges are likely to give better and accurate result compared to smaller ones.

Extra features

Some pressure gauges are designed to allow you read the pressure value even after you have checked the pressure and pulled it off the car tire. If you would like one with such an extra feature, you should always specify this during purchase. Also, some have a backlit display while others don't, but still work as accurately and efficiently. Always have these extra features in mind so as to get the best value out of your pressure gauge.

Pressure gauges should be kept safely and handled with care to ensure consistent and accurate readings. If it's always dropped or thrown around, it can lose its accuracy. For maximum safety, always keep it in a case after use.

About Me

Buying a business with your old boss

My old boss and I were made redundant from our jobs at the same time. We were a bit sad about the idea of not working together, but then we realised that we would be able to work together if we used our redundancy payments to buy a business. We were both really good at our jobs and loved working together so it just made sense to team up. We built our business up slowly but surely and now we make more money than we ever did in our old jobs. This blog has some of the information I wished I had before I started the business, like tips on how to set up your business administration processes.
